The second in the proposed annual Aidan Daly Memorial Tractor Run in Currow was held over the Christmas holiday period and, like last year’s event, it was a great success again in spite of the bad weather.

An impressive line-up of 124 tractors participated and so far the event has raised just over €9,000 – €5,854 of which was raised on the day and total to date made up by on-line contributions of €3,225.

Blown Away by Generosity

“Again, we are blown away by the generosity of everyone that has donated to this very worthy cause Kerry Cancer Support Group,” said organising group and family member, Eimear Daly.

“We are so grateful and touched by the all the help and support we received from our local community, from all the participants and spectators that came out on such a bad day to support the event.

“We had lots of the stewards who came out to direct traffic and people who helped out with registration, who provided food and helped serve refreshments.

Sincere Thanks to Everyone

“The event could not take place without such support. We would like to sincerely thank everyone for making this event such a success and would like to thank Mary Philpott of Killeentierna Community Centre for use of the hall.

We wish to thank Margaret Hanafin of Currow National School for use of the school yard, Fr. Buckley for use of the church yard and Sean Hickey Scaffolding.

Post Event Community Spirit

It was lovely to see such a community spirit in the hall afterwards and people meeting up who might not have met since the previous year, it was a lovely get together.

Our family greatly appreciates all the support we have received and are delighted that the money raised is going to fund vital services, services that rely fully on the generosity of others to function.
