Aontú Candidate Cáit Ní Ríordáin Reports on Issues from her Campaign Trail

Aontú Candidate Cáit Ní Riordáin reports on issues in University Hospital Kerry and from residents in Farranfore raised with her in the course of her campaign trail.

Aontú Candidate for the Castleisland LEA, Cáit Ní Ríordáin, has called on Uisce Éireann to test the river water quality of ‘An Féith Fionn’ in Farranfore following complaints from locals.

“While canvassing in Farranfore, many locals brought my attention to a foul smell from the ‘An Féith Fionn’ river. There is indeed a strong sewage-like odour from it so I am calling on Uisce Éireann to test for traces of contamination,” she said.

Doctor Shortage at UHK

“I was contacted by a local who arrived at UHK at 8pm ove evening recently and spent the night on a chair.

Throughout the night, the person was advised that there was only one doctor on duty, and it would be morning before another arrived.

“While the staff on duty were excellent and did their best to ensure patient comfort – which included bringing refreshments, that person was not seen until the following afternoon.

“While this person is relatively young, some elderly people had to endure longer waiting periods.

“I am calling on the HSE to initiate an urgent review of staffing levels as it is unfair that people must wait 18 hours to see a doctor,” said Ms. Ní Ríordáin.
