This week’s Castleisland RFC Split the Bucket Draw was held at the Shoemaker’s Bar on Saturday night.
Last week’s winner, Joe Hanafin from Ballymacelligott collected his €631 winning cheque at the Crageens clubhouse on Thursday afternoon.
At Saturday night’s draw Niamh Curtin from Shoemaker’s did the honours and picked this week’s winner, Gareth Lawless from Kerry Flyer for €702.
The next draw is on this Saturday afternoon at Sue Ryder Shop at around 5pm on Saturday and the club members wish the best of luck everyone entering the draw.
Club Thankful to Draw Supporters
Former club player and chairman Dan Casey said that the members are very thankful for the constant support the people of the locality have provided to the Split the Bucket draw and to the club in general.
A whole raft of ground works has just been completed ahead of the 2024 / 25 season including extensive improvement and sanding of the playing surface on both pitches and upgrading of the all-weather training area.
A huge job of fencing of the perimeter of the entire club grounds has also been completed as well as an overhaul of the lighting system on the club grounds.
Memorial Trees Planted
Several trees have been planted in memory of people who made a significant contribution to the club in terms of their playing years or work in the areas of the development and club promotion.
Further planting of trees is planned after consultation with the families of people deemed worthy of the honour.
“Only for the support we’re getting from the people of the whole area through the Split the Bucket Draw we wouldn’t have been able to carry out and complete this programme of work on the grounds here.
Centenary Celebrations in 2026
“We cater for close on 200 members from national school ages all the way to seniors in both male and female.
“We were anxious to have all this work done as the centenary of the founding of the club will be marked in 2026,” said Dan.
The club has also been accommodating and generous with the use of its grounds and has come to the aid of several local GAA clubs while work was being conducted on their facilities. The club is also very welcoming to new members and new players.
How to Play Split the Bucket
Split the Bucket draw envelopes are available in shops and pubs throughout this and neighbouring parishes.
You simply put your €2 in the envelope, seal it and sign it and add your telephone number and pop it in the bucket or the club coloured, red and blue stands.
