Sinn Féin to Commemorate the 1921 Sacrifices Made by Flynn, Prendiville and Shanahan

Castleisland based Sinn Féin cumann will commemorate the tragic events of Sunday, July 10th 1921 on this Tuesday evening August 13th at 7:30pm.

A simple wreath laying ceremony will be held in memory of the fallen Irish Volunteers: Jack Flynn, Jack Prendiville and Richard Shanahan.

Den Prendiville’s Vivid Account

Volunteer, Den Prendiville left a vivid account of the deadly battle which raged throughout the town on that fateful night.

The late Mr. Prendiville’s brother, Jack was one of those killed on the night.

Wishing to Remember

Tuesday evening’s events at the monument on Rice’s Height on the Cordal Road are being conducted by those who wish to remember the men and the sacrifices they made. There was a major commemoration to mark the centenary of those tragic events in 2021.
