Thought for The Week – Living with Uncertainty

Technology is pretty marvellous. Every time I flip a switch or open Google Maps I’m delighted at the seamless efficiency of the modern world.

The incredible advancements in science in my lifetime alone are breathtaking. But in the midst of all this progress, have we as a society slipped into the belief that there is an app that can provide definitive direction not just for basic domestic needs like putting up shelves but as a place to go for answers to emotional dilemmas?

The issue searching for technology as a map to life is we are losing touch with two vitally important aspects of human existence.

Comfort in Not Knowing

The first is being comfortable with not knowing – which leads to the second which is relying on our inner compass to help us find the best pathways forward.

It doesn’t mean that in times of difficulty we cannot find helpful organisations or support online but the specific route to our well-being and emotional health has to be one that comes from the heart and truly works for us.

Reconnect with your own intuition and follow its lead when you are in search of inspiration or healing. You won’t go astray.
