GAA Update: Senior Football Leagues
Brosna stepped out against Dromid Pearses in Round 2 of the Credit Union Senior Football League.
Brosna got off to a terrific start and had the majority of possession. By half time a goal by Jamie O’Sullivan and points from Jamie, Jack, Conor and Timmy put Brosna at 1-5 to Dromid’s 0-4.
The second half saw Dromid bring some grit to its performance. Hard tackling and intercepts put Brosna under pressure.
Brosna managed just two points in the second half. The first by Jamie and the second by Mike Finnegan who is back for a few weeks and looking the picture of good health and fitness.
Our bench in the form of Jimmy Kelly, Don McAuliffe and a visiting Daniel Fitzgerald, helped to bring the game home. Full time: Brosna 1-7. Dromid 0-7.
Special note of thanks to Mary Barry and Mary Finnegan who oversaw the club-house refreshments after the game.
Our club’s hospitality is much appreciated by teams and supporters travelling long distances. Well done to all involved in rolling out the red carpet.
Condolences the the Hayes and O’Connor Families
We remember Suzanne Hayes (nee O’Connor) of the Westering Inn who passed away recently.
Sending our deepest sympathies to her family, neighbours and friends. A lovely lady, may she rest in peace.
Bon Voyage to Kieran
We wish Kieran O’Donnell well as he starts a new life in Boston.
You will be sadly missed by your two families – O’Donnell and GAA. Stay safe and keep in touch.
Easter Wishes and Thanks to Fr. Spillane and Catherine Nash
Wishing everyone at home and abroad a very special Easter.
The schools are closed, there’s a long weekend in the offing, lots of chocolate on the menu and not forgetting the religious aspect.
Thank you Fr. Spillane for leading your flock with such dedication and good humour. And not forgetting the inspirational Catherine Nash who has corralled a diverse group of singers into a small but powerful choir.
